Two Tribes

Due for publication Sept 2026

Two Tribes is the sequel to my first book, When the Final Whistle Blows; Glory, Grief and Tottenham Hotspur, the story of the 2024/5 Spurs season. Whilst the two books are related, they are quite different.

Two Tribes tells the story of how my experiences as a first-time author led me to explore two very different communities: the global Spurs family and what has come to be known as Big Tech.

You don’t need to be a football supporter to read this book, nor do you need to have read the first book. You just need to care about how platform power works, how it shapes our lives, and what happens at the intersection of technology and community.

Two Tribes

When I published my first book When the Final Whistle Blows, I thought the story was finished.

It had only just begun.

A baffling dispute with Amazon over missing book sales sent me deep into the hidden world of modern publishing, where algorithms, automated systems and corporate processes increasingly shape the lives of writers and readers alike. As I struggled to understand what was happening, I discovered that the real story wasn't about publishing at all.

Running alongside my investigation was another journey: into the extraordinary global community of Tottenham Hotspur supporters. Through journalists, podcasters, former players and fellow fans, I experienced a culture built not on transactions or technology, but on generosity, trust and shared identity.

Blending memoir, publishing, football and social commentary, Two Tribes asks a simple but increasingly important question: what happens when human communities and digital platforms collide?

At once entertaining, insightful and deeply personal, it is a story about belonging, purpose and why, in an age increasingly organised by technology, community matters more than ever.
